Release Options for Canada

In addition to the standard Release on Minimum Documentation (RMD), we can assist you with implementing any of the following:

Frequent Importer Release System (FIRST)

FIRST is a line release system designed for those importers whose shipments are high in volume, repetitive and low risk. To qualify, an application by the importer and carrier must be made and authorization received from Canada Customs by the importer and carrier.

The FIRST release form is a combination of the Customs invoice and RMD card. On arrival at Customs, the carrier submits the form(s) to the officer in the inspection booth. If everything is in order, the goods will be released at this point. The forms are forwarded to the broker for a confirming entry after release.

Pre-Arrival Review System (PARS)

PARS is a line release system that enables exporters or carriers to fax or transmit data to a broker’s office before arrival at the point of clearance. A bar coded carrier specific cargo control type number is the key element for this system to work. These bar coded control numbers are available through your carrier of choice. The person requesting a PARS clearance must fax the clearance documents to the broker with this bar coded number. On arrival, the driver simply supplies the documents with the original PARS bar code to Customs. Once again, if everything is in order, the goods will be released at this point.

In-Pars

This type of PARS system operates in a similar manner to the normal PARS but is designed for the release of freight moved in bond to inland sufferance warehouses. The inland carrier must initiate the use of IN-PARS.

Air-Pars

Almost identical to the IN-PARS system, it is designed to allow for the pre-release of air shipments handled by the carriers approved for Air-Pars clearance.

Electronic Release

Customs modernization has made Electronic Release (E/R) possible through all automated ports operated by Canada Customs. PBB Global Logistics has been a leader in the development and use of this technology, which grants priority to E/R shipments over manual releases. We can also receive import documentation electronically, we urge you to review our I.T.S. (Integrated Technology Services) brochure for further details. As a Non-Resident Importer, your total control of the import transaction allows for modernization beyond the scope employed by the average importer.
