Trade
Security and Customs Compliance Initiatives
to be Highlighted at Executive Briefing
Series
Fort
Erie –September 2, 2004 –For
the third time, PBB Global Logistics is
conducting a cross-Canada seminar series
to provide traders at the executive level
with everything they need to know about
wide-reaching border initiatives on trade
security and customs compliance. The series, “Cross-Border
Strategies for Success”, is designed
to help prepare businesses that rely on
international supply chains in an environment
where customs audits and penalties are
more frequent and cross-border trade security
is paramount. From AMPS, CSA & FAST
to ACI, traders must ensure compliance
or they risk penalties and supply chain
disruptions.
“Canada Border
Services Agency (CBSA) is proposing that within
the next two years all goods imported into
Canada will fall under Customs Self Assessment
or Advance Commercial Information requirements,”says
Tom Mountain, Regulatory & Compliance Consultant,
PBB Global Logistics. “Traders are beginning
to ask, 'What should I be doing now to prepare
for this monumental change?' These Executive
Briefings will cover all bases.”
With more than 50
years of combined experience, Mr. Mountain
and PBB’s Bob McKeller, Government Affairs
Consultant, will share their expert insight
into a wide range of trade security and customs
compliance initiatives. Mr. Mountain is a Certified
Professional Logistician (P.Log) and Managing
Director for the International Federation of
Customs Brokers. Mr. McKeller has over 20 years
of experience with Canada Customs and is a
member of the Customs and Legislative committees
for both Canadian Association of Importers
and Exporters and the Canadian Manufacturers
and Exporters.
Concurrent with
these security initiatives, CBSA is in the
final stages of implementing its Customs Action
Plan. These seminars will guide traders in
reviewing their business systems and procedures
to ensure that they are fully compliant with
present and future Customs requirements.
In addition to AMPS,
PBB's Executive Briefing seminars cover important
topics such as ACI, CSA and FAST.
