Search Engine Provides Essential Resource
for Traders
On-line Database Offers Complimentary Information
on 2003 H.S. Codes
Fort
Erie, Ontario - February 5, 2003 -
Importers and Exporters can now get
a head start on planning and costing
their shipments by accessing PBB Global
Logistics' newly updated Canadian Customs
Tariff Search Engine. Located at www.pbb.com,
this on-line database features complimentary
and up-to-date information on all Canadian
Harmonized (H.S.) codes for 2003, and
offers an excellent resource for traders
looking to save time and mitigate risk
management.
PBB
strongly recommends that importers familiarize
themselves with their H.S. codes on a regular
basis in order to keep up with all the latest
Customs initiatives. For instance, incorrect
codes or constant errors can result in warnings
and possible fines under the Administrative
Monetary Penalties System (AMPS) - the Canada
Customs and Revenue Agency's new schedule of
civil penalties for non-compliance.
PBB's
on-line tariff search engine also offers several
value-added features for traders including
the ability to easily access the codes they
require without having to rely on lengthy printed
lists or out of date H.S. code sources. Searchable
by product keyword or code number, the on-line
database includes information on 11 different
tariff treatments and features a faster, more
powerful search engine that produces comprehensive
and detailed results.
"We
have had great success by continually striving
to update and improve PBB's services for our
clients - and our value-added web site is a
perfect example," says John Ferguson,
Director, Sales & Marketing, PBB Global
Logistics. "Now with its improved search
speed and completely updated codes, our site
provides traders with the resources they need
to get their jobs done quickly and efficiently."
In
addition to its regular features, PBB's site
now includes H.S. codes regarding the recent
Canada-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement (CRT).
Under the new CRT, goods meeting specific rules
of origin and accompanied by a certificate
of origin can now experience reduced duty rates
for import into Canada. This is the first year
these rates have come into effect. Traders
who are unfamiliar with the CRT can now access
accurate duty rates for products they want
to import and avoid potential hassles at the
border.
