August
19, 2003, Toronto, Canada –Purolator
Courier Ltd. of Mississauga and PBB
Global Logistics (PBB) of Fort Erie,
Ontario today report that Purolator
Trade Solutions Ltd. (PTS) –the
joint venture announced in May of this
year–is now operational. Purolator
customers will begin receiving the
additional benefits that this joint
venture will provide such as increased
compliance, security and convenience
in the customs clearance component
of their North American transborder
shipping.
The
new company, which, for a renewable 10 year
period, will handle all Purolator’s courier
customs business, has established the business
processes and introduced an interactive web
presence so that customers can begin using
PTS services with ease.
Newly
appointed Chairman of the Purolator Trade Solutions
Board, Mike Scott, in commenting on the rapid
operationalizing of Purolator Trade Solutions,
noted that “the creation of this new
venture with PBB Global Logistics is a major
step forward for our two companies. For PBB,
this change solidifies the relationship through
a long term agreement that will generate continuous
growth.”
Leveraging
PBB’s impeccable, half century record
for exceptional compliance and clearance services,
and its current offerings of advanced web-enabled
processes, Purolator Trade Solutions will be
able to deliver increased ease and simplicity
for customers moving packages throughout North
America.
“For
Purolator and their customers, Purolator Trade
Solutions repositions their cross border services
to more favorably compete within North America.
Most importantly, the comprehensive focus on
process integration and ease of use will make
cross border shipping with Purolator, a competitive
advantage,”said PTS Vice President and
General Manager Randy Smart. “With increased
sensitivities at the border, it’s important
for Purolator’s customers to begin receiving
detailed practical information to assist with
their shipping decisions,”he added.
While,
in the short term, focus will be on delivering
simplified customs brokerage services, the
company’s planning includes integration
of the call center, invoices and communication
systems.
