Fort
Erie, Ontario - May 1, 2003 -
PBB Global Logistics has established
a new working partnership with the
Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA),
under its Partners in Protection program
(PIP).
Through
PIP, PBB will work closely with the CCRA to
foster government and industry cooperation,
enhance border security, combat organized crime
and terrorism, increase awareness of customs
compliance issues, and help detect and prevent
contraband smuggling.
"In
today's environment we must do all we can to
ensure safety and security in all of our business
practices," said Mike Scott, President & CEO,
PBB Global Logistics. "By working in partnership,
both parties contribute to the protection of
Canadian society and the facilitation of legitimate
trade."
PBB
is also an active participant in the U.S. Customs-Trade
Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) - a
voluntary program aimed at combating terrorism
by encouraging businesses to review their supply
chain and adopt practices to enhance security.
In the fall, PBB held a series of executive
briefings to detail the impact of initiatives
such as PIP and C-TPAT to importers, manufacturers,
shippers and carriers and to give them a better
understanding of pressing issues on both sides
of the border.
Partners
In Protection (PIP) is a voluntary program
aimed at strengthening physical security in
areas of production, transportation, importation
and exportation. As a PIP member, PBB realizes
the importance of protecting the health, safety,

programs offers PBB clients additional trade
and security related benefits.
