PBB
to Join C-TPAT Program
New Program Offers Reduced Delays and Enhanced
Supply Chain Security
Fort
Erie, Ontario - October 18, 2002 -
PBB Global Logistics has filed with
the U.S. Customs service to participate
in the Customs-Trade Partnership Against
Terrorism (C-TPAT). This new voluntary
program was recently introduced by
U.S. Customs to combat terrorism by
encouraging businesses to review their
entire supply chain and adopt practices
to enhance security.
Under
C-TPAT, participants such as importers, carriers,
brokers, warehouse operators and manufacturers
must conduct a comprehensive self-assessment
of security practices throughout their supply
chain. By actively participating in C-TPAT,
participants can experience several major
benefits including reduced inspections and
border delays as well as other advantages
such as eligibility for account-based processes
and the assignment of an account manager.
C-TPAT
is one of many new initiatives currently
facing cross-border shippers including Free
and Secure Trade, Partners in Protection
and the Container Security Initiative. This
fall, PBB held a series of a comprehensive
executive briefings to explain the impact
of these upcoming changes to importers and
help companies better understand pressing
issues on both sides of the border.
