Prior Notice

All food articles, regardless of value, will require a Customs entry and prior notice to FDA of the shipment arrival. There are up to 34 data elements required as part of the prior notice which must be provided for every FDA-regulated food (including gifts) article to allow the broker to efficiently format and transmit the prior notice information to FDA.

In order for PBB to effectively review and process prior notice data within FDA timeframes we must receive prior notice documentation in advance:

Air/Rail: 6 hours prior to estimated time of arrival for shipment at first port of arrival.
Truck: 4 hours prior to estimated time of arrival for shipment at first port of arrival
Water: 10 hours prior to estimated time of arrival for shipment at first port of arrival.
